Stay Wild - Christina DeHoff - Visionary Collection

Stay Wild

“Stay Wild”  40″ x 60″ oil on canvas

Original is Sold. Limited Edition Hand Embellished Canvas Prints are available. Please inquire via email.

This painting is a reminder to stay connected to natures cycles in all its raw and wise ways. The waning crescent moon is celebrated with its enchanting, mystical and juicy energy. Honoring the wild and seductive waning moon phase taps us into the sensual and erotic side of a woman’s ancient future memory. It’s a highly intuitive and psychic lunar time when we can surrender to the achy call of the seductress. Here is my interpretation of a modern and universal expression of Hiʻiaka, who was the patron goddess of Hawai’I, hula dancers, chant, sorcery and medicine. Owls were her messengers and were sacred to her. Hiʻiaka lived in a grove of trees where she spent her days dancing with the forest spirits.

Star Dancer by Christina DeHoff

“Star Dancer”

24″ x 30″ Oil, acrylic and silver leaf on canvas. By Christina DeHoff

Have you ever thought about what the song of a whale might look like?

The song of the humpback is one of the most heart expanding sounds I have experienced. Just one foot under the water you can hear their call in the winter months on Maui. The sound invokes a sense of longing and deep soul communication. It is an other worldly and ethereal song. This painting explores the energy of the whale with the currents of sound and soul. I’m excited about the result.

This painting is a meditation of prismatic color and light. She feels like she is dancing in different dimensions
Breath of Light is what I feel when I meditate and when I dance. Life force energy flows in and out of my body in an exchange of being alive and feeling the connection to all that is. There is a moment in meditation when it feels like the top of my head opens and the swirl of thoughts that live in my spinning monkey mind are set free and handed over to the heavens. I am then filled with a peaceful, expanded, heart soothing sensation that says,“Welcome home. You are held in love.”
My hope is that “Breath of Light” reminds you of this center within your soul.

"New Moon Open Heart" by Christina DeHoff - Visionary Artist in Maui Hawaii

New Moon Open Heart

“New Moon, Open Heart”

24″ x 36″

Oil, Silver and Gold leaf on canvas

original painting is SOLD. Limited Edition, Hand Embellished Prints are available.

10 years ago I came to Maui. My first painting here was called “Open Heart”. My friend and spirit sister Lysha Kamisato Wernig, posed for me. The painting was an expression of what Maui felt like to me…heart opening. My work here has been centered around the heart ever since. As an anniversary celebration..I wanted to do another painting based on that same image with the mixed media I use now and an expression of the growth in my heart these last 10 years on this amazing lava rock I call home. The new moon symbolizes new beginnings and is a powerful time to fulfill our visions. As the year comes to a close I send this painting out as my prayer for change and peace…and the opening of many hearts. I will share this new original painting in my show on Big Island in January with Tiffany’s Art Agency. Aloha : )

Mana

“Mana”

24″ x 36″ Mixed Metal Leaf and Oil on Panel

SOLD

This original painting is available SOLD.

25 Limited Edition Embellished Giclee are available for purchase.

In Polynesian culture, mana is a spiritual quality considered to have supernatural origin—a sacred impersonal force existing in the universe. MANA is energy and the internal power of any living thing. Hawaiians believe all things have mana. The aina (land), pohaku (rocks), plants, people, gods and goddesses.

This painting is an exploration of what mana feels like to me. Mana is magic made real. The presence of the spirit world and our life force expressed as one. There is strength and clarity in the figures direct gaze. I want the viewer to feel the pulse of energy and spirit. I used base layers of magenta and cyan to create a buzz for your eyes and then added shimmering metal leaf. The viewer is intended to move around this painting so that the reflective light creates an almost auric interactive effect.

“Calling on the Elements” – Explores balancing the multiple layers that exist in each of us as women. From our fire filled moments of strength and passion embodied here in Pele to the watery, nurturing, emotional spirit of the snow Goddess Poli’ahu.

The legends of Pele have taught me that we do have the ability to create the ground on which we stand and we possess a fierce strength that can forge any path we choose. Those choices can be both destructive and constructive…we are responsible for the direction.

In this painting Pele and Poli’ahu are honoring the heavens, the cycles of the moon, the Mana and the connection between all things.

They are in balance. They honor the elements and birth the land, they dance with the ancestral presence of Amakua surrounding them. Hawaii is a land that teaches respect and doing the right thing.

Aloha Spirit – Joyful Blessing

Oil, Silver Leaf on Panel | 16″ x 20″ | 2016

Original  SOLD

I have always treasured my strong, positive and deep relationships with my elders. They carry wisdom I long for and are the keepers of our traditions. I felt a warm, compassionate and soulful presence in Kumu Hula Gordean Bailey when I watched her perform a blessing ceremony years ago. I felt a call to try and capture the essence of joy she carries and what I felt to be true Aloha spirit. The paintings I create serve as reminders of an internal knowing. We as women have a strength beyond measure, and we are here to raise one another up in this world. Intuitively I feel Gordean Bailey is a shining example of this.

Ascent to the Moon – Mahina

Oil, Silver Leaf on Panel | 12″ x 16″ | 2016

Original is SOLD

“Ascent to the Moon” – is my interpretation of the story of Mahina, Goddess of the Moon and mother of Maui. She was a survivor who knew that she wanted a life beyond what she was living. She ran up rainbows, faced challenges and ultimately followed her heart to the moon and found love and peace.
